Well Done to Keith Little, Jason Shepherd and Neil Cameron, Keith and Jason have now been awarded their 3rd Degree Black belts. Neil Cameron has been awarded his 1st Degree Black belt.

On 17th and 18th September Keith Little and Jason Shepherd (Senior Instructors with Borders Martial Arts) Sat their 3rd Degree/Dan Black Belt gradings, also Neil Cameron (Student) sat his 1st Degree/Dan Blackbelt Grading. This is one of the most physically and metally demanding gradings I have seen, all 3 participants gave their all for themselves and their club, Keith lost almost a stone in weight over the 2 day course, well done to them all, I was extremely proud of my students. now is the hard bit waiting on the results comming in, watch this space for an update when we receive the results.

New Class Venue for Duns

All duns classes will now be held in the Guy Roberts Hall, situated in the recently updated Duns Swimming pool.

2010 Grading

Borders Martial Arts students recently overcame the bad weather to completed a grading seminar where they were coached and put through their examination to qualify for their next step up the ladder towards a black belt, the students had to demonstrate their syllabus work and self-defence techniques to a panel. everyone was sucessful on this occasion, with the following gaining new belts.

Ryan Patterson, Lewis Patterson, Kyle Mitchell, Rory Paul, Greg Purcell, Ian Grant and Reece Mcnaughton all gained Junior White belts. Alisdair Thomson and Donna Crump White belts.

Ethan Deakin Junior Yellow belt. Jake Shepherd and Freyja Allen Junior Orange belt. Ryan Craig Green belt. Ewan Allen, Tamsin Budge Junior Blue belts. Tony Bates Blue belt and the highest grade went to Derek Whitten who gained his Purple belt. Chief Instructor John Wilson said that the standard was higher than the last grading, and wished all the students to keep up the good work

Self defence competition – Scotland v England!

Well Done to all the students who took part in the self-defence competition on Sunday 14th March, in York . Our students demonstrated the true spirit of Martial arts as they carried out their defence routines before a panel of judges. Several of our students shone through and won trophy’s and medals, John Wilson came 2nd and Keith Little 3rd in the 40+ section, Jason Shepherd came 3rd in the 20 -40 section, Jason also received an award for displaying the true spirit of martial arts throughout the competition. Tamsin Budge came 2nd and Ewan Allen came 3rd in the 11 -13 section. Cameron Yourston came 2nd in the 8-10 section. John Wilson chief instructor would like to offer an additional award to James O’Donnell for his improvement since the last competition. Well done again to everyone who took part.

Self Defence Competion – England v Scotland!

Our first self defence competition took place on the 4th October in Duns and was a very successful event, even if England did win! Only just though, many of our members received medals and were placed highly in the competition. Full results will be up soon, if you want to have a look at the photos, check them out here.

Hello and welcome to Borders Martial Arts. We are a small martial arts club based in the Scottish Borders and we teach kickboxing, kung fu and tai chi.
